On Sunday night Leah woke up from her nap on
fire. She looked awful, She could barely stand up she was so weak. So I took her temp and she was burning a 104.5degree fever. Then she started to gag. So I quickly gathered some towels, a fresh pair of jammies, some books I could read to her to help keep her preoccupied in the ER and car ( I was expecting a very long night for all of us. I was right), and garbage bags (for the vomit, during the car ride) while Chris got Leah ready and in the car to take her to Primary Children's.
I don't mess around when she is sick like this. I'd rather fork out some dough on a co-pay and find out if she's okay or not than just ignore it and wait until it progresses into something worse. Needless to say, we've been to the emergency room a lot since Leah's been born.
Well got to Primary's and it was a 5 hour wait! The waiting room was packed! There was no where to sit. So I said nuts to this we are going to another hospital. We finally got there (Leah was vomiting the whole way there) and they said it was just a nasty virus and gave her stuff for the vomiting and made sure it wasn't her ears or something with her organs. But they also told us she was dehydrated. She was so close to having to have an IV put in. I did however feel sooo much better we knew what it was. I just really don't like to take chances with her health.
So for the rest of that night (or should I say morning) we spent it putting syringe after syringe of pedialite in Leah's mouth every hour because she didn't want to drink anything. That scares me soooo much when she is sick. I am so terrified of her getting dehydrated. And we'd alternate her meds every three hours to help bring her fever down. Today is the first day she has not had a fever above 102 in four days! And considering that I had to give her a little time out today (we do not tolerate hitting!) I daresay she is getting better.
And on a little side note: She turned 20 months old yesterday! She can do so many things now! She just amazes me. She can comprehend so much now. I just love her!
